Arrest after man fatally stabbed

Police have made an arrest after a 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed in far north NSW.

Emergency services were called to Brown St in Boggabilla just after 11.30pm on Friday.

“On arrival, officers attached to New England Police District found a 32-year-old man suffering stab wounds,” NSW police said in a statement on Saturday.

He was rushed by ambulance to Goondiwindi Hospital where he died a short time later.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at a home in Goondiwindi, Queensland about 1.30am on Saturday.

He was taken to the local police station where he is assisting police with inquiries.

“Crime scenes were established at both locations, which will be examined by specialist forensic police,” NSW police said.

“Detectives have established Strike Force Bruntnell to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and will apply for the man’s extradition to NSW.”

The investigation is ongoing.
